|Role:||Local Authority Governor/School Improvement Committee|
|Background Information:||My background includes textile lab work and then secondary school teaching before bringing up my own children. I then spent some years teaching ESOL part time to adults, before standing for election to Stockton Borough Council for Eaglescliffe ward; I retired from this role in 2015. As a governor, my interest lies in ensuring that the school can give every child the opportunity to develop to the best of their potential in personal and social skills as well as academic, sporting and artistic.|
|Role:||Co-opted Governor and Chair of Resources Committee|
|Governor since:||September 2013|
|Background Information:||Having had one child progress very well through the school and another on their way through, I am keen to support the school where I can and hope that all the children will have a positive learning experience and achieve their full potential.
I am a qualified accountant, currently working as an External Funding Accountant at a local University, monitoring income and expenditure associated with European and UK Research and Regeneration grants.
The skills gained in my job are useful for monitoring school expenditure and questioning assumptions made during financial forecasting exercises.
|Name:||Mrs Margaret Dale|
|Lives:||Orchard Estate Eaglescliffe|
|Role:||Co-opted Governor with responsibility for Safeguarding. Member of the School Improvement and Resources Committees.|
|Governor since:||April 2011|
|Background Information:||As a local resident for the past 47 years I wish to support the provision of excellent schools for our local children.
Before retirement, I spent 20 years as a headteacher, leading two primary schools during a period of unprecedented change in our national education system. I fully understand the pressures on schools and the need for effective governors to support the work of their school.
As a weekly volunteer in the school, I see at first hand the dedication of all of the staff in our school, their hard work and commitment and the effect this has on its wonderful children. I am very proud to be associated with Durham Lane Primary.
|Governor since:||November 2014|
|Background Information:||I am the school’s Technical Support Engineer and have been working with them for three years. During that time I have developed a good working relationship with everyone at the school and I enjoy being part of Durham Lane. Working closely with schools in the Tees Valley area provides me with an insight into the challenges facing schools today.
I have three sons all in either college or university and I am passionate about education. I became a governor to help support the staff and students in achieving the best possible outcomes for children at the school, and help promote the community spirit of Durham Lane Primary.
|Governor Since:||March 2015|
|I have one son Tommy at the school currently in reception class. I wanted to become a school parent governor to help support the Head teacher and Staff in continually improving the standards to help each individual child fulfil their personal potential and providing as many opportunities as possible to them.
For the past 26 years I have been involved full time in professional football, and I have also a real interest in giving opportunities to local grass roots players in the area to help them fulfil their individual development.
|Name:||Mrs Rachel Graham|
|Role:||Co-opted Governor/ Vice Chair of Governors/Special Educational Needs Governor|
|Governor since:||May 2013|
|Background Information:||I joined the Governing Body of Durham Lane as a Parent Governor in May 2013. I transferred to being a Co-opted Governor recently following re-constitution of the Governing Body.
I live in Eaglescliffe with my husband and two boys. My background includes serving as Detective Constable for over twenty years; a majority of my service has been spent in Fraud / Financial investigations as well as the Child Protection Unit.
Although it requires a significant amount of time and energy to be a Governor, I enjoy being part of Durham Lane Governing Body. It is a rewarding feeling to be part of a robust team of people that care enough to use their own free time to make a difference. We all have one thing in common and that is the welfare and performance of the school. I have seen first hard while visiting Durham Land Primary the hard work and effort that goes into the quality teaching and learning that creates the positive environment to work.
I honestly feel that every child, including those with Special Educational needs and disabilities, should be given the opportunity to excel in their development and be the very best they can be.
|Governor Since:||February 2016|
|Background Information:||I have a daughter in the school and another due to join the nursery this year. My eldest is really happy at Durham Lane and I was keen to become a Parent Governor so I could understand more about the running of the school and contribute to making Durham Lane a great school where the children can learn and grow in a positive happy environment.
As a Human Resources professional, my skills and experience are really valuable in helping me support the Governing Body of the school.
|Governor Since:||February 2016|
|Background Information||My family and I live in Hunter’s Green, Eaglescliffe. Our son is thoroughly enjoying his time at Durham Lane School. I am very interested in my son’s education and wanted to put something back into the community and the school through my involvement as a governor.
I have been a Sports Studies teacher at Stockton Sixth Form College for 26 years and, at present, am a Deputy Progress Leader with responsibility for many subjects at the College.
I love sports and being active and have many varied interests including nature, competitive sports and movies.
