SEND

Our Special Educational Needs and Disability (SEND) coordinator is Mrs Neave. If you wish to speak to our SENDCo please call 01642 780742 to arrange a telephone appointment. Our Support staff work with children who are identified as having SEND needs through in-class support, with small groups and sometimes on a 1 to 1 basis.

Durham Lane Primary School has always been committed to recognising Special Educational Needs. All children have individual needs, but some children may experience difficulties with particular aspects of the curriculum, and other children may be very high achievers who need more individually tailored programmes of study. We also liaise with Educational Psychologists who offers specialist support and advice regarding children with additional needs. Our commitment will continue and parents who are concerned about their children in this area, should consult with their child’s teacher in the first instance.

For more information see our Policy or SEND Information Report (Local Offer) below.

We are proud to share that Durham Lane Primary has been awarded the Inclusion Quality Mark. At Durham Lane, children and families truly come first, and our strong, authentic relationships underpin everything we do. Our inclusive ethos ensures every child feels valued, supported and able to thrive both academically and emotionally. Parents speak highly of our caring environment, high expectations and personalised support. The assessor recognised our commitment to inclusion, community, and continuous improvement, noting that Durham Lane is a school of choice for many families. We are delighted to have achieved this recognition and will continue to place children at the heart of all we do. February 2026
